Job Description:

The Olde School Group is an Enhanced Day-care Facility run by LLT Community Association in partnership with Craigavon & Banbridge Health & Social Services Trust. It provides day-care each Thursday, 10.00am-3.00pm to persons aged 65 years and over who:
. have gone through the rehabilitation programme at Crozier Lodge
. because of mobility restrictions are unable to avail of other day-care services
. can benefit from the mental stimulation of various activities

The service is staffed by a Trust Peripatetic Day-care Worker, the Association's Centre Assistant, and volunteers. The project is based at the Community Centre, Drumnascamph Rd, Laurencetown.

Purpose of Role
The volunteer will work as part of a team to provide a quality service to the clients of this group.

Main Tasks
1. escort clients from their homes to your car and vice versa
2. transport clients to the community centre in your own car and/or transport clients from the community centre to their homes in your own car
3. ensure the health and safety of clients at all times
4. ensure client comfort while being transported
5. report to the Trust Peripatetic Day-care Worker any issues regarding the wellbeing of the client

Requirements
Drivers must ensure their vehicle is appropriately insured.

Training
Appropriate training will be offered to enable you to carry out your role efficiently and effectively. Some of this training, eg moving & handling training, will be mandatory.

Hours
We ask volunteers to pick-up one client (ensuring the client is at the Centre by 10.00am) and return the same client (leaving the Centre at 3.00pm). Currently the project runs one day per week ie Thursday, although this may increase to two days per week at a later date.

Expenses
All mileage will be reimbursed at a rate set by the Trust.
