Volunteer Bureau works with St. Michaels

- Posted on Feb 16, 2007

After a visit from the recruitment officer of The Craigavon and Banbridge Volunteer Centre, Brian Douglas, a large group of pupils from St. Michael's Grammar School have requested to be placed in various volunteering placements. The pupils that have partaken in this responsibility are from lower and upper sixth and were told about the program through their health and social care teachers; Miss Loane and Miss Mc Kay.

Of the pupils that have requested to become volunteers, several students come volunteers have already been placed within a matter of weeks.  A few of the pupils have been placed in projects such as the P.I.T.C.H. project. In this project the students will be working with young children with a hearing disability. Other students were placed in Knock Eden, in which the pupils will be working with people

with learning difficulties.

There are also an amount of pupils to be placed and they will be placed in up and coming projects in the near future.

The Craigavon and Banbridge Volunteer Bureau have also kindly accepted one of St. Michaels students for work placement. Gerard Lavery, a lower sixth student, asked for a placement to gain a greater knowledge of the work that the Craigavon and Banbridge Volunteer Bureau perform.
