| The YMCA Lurgan finds value in meeting young people in their own territory and building safe relationships with them in hopes that they will be encouraged to participate in weekly programmes in the centre.
Our current street team goes out into the streets of Lurgan on Friday nights between 7:30 - 10pm to get to know young people and support them in any way we can.
Anyone interested in being a part of this programme would need to be comfortable with initiating conversation with young people and able to handle the emotional side of seeing young people that may be engaging in destructive behaviour.
It is also important to understand that this is not detached work, rather, outreach work as we are trying to encourage young people to participate in healthy alternative activities.
