STOP PRESS: Home-visiting volunteers needed for Home-Start

- Posted on Oct 12, 2009

As a Home-Start volunteer you will visit a family in their own home for a few hours each week. Families may be struggling for any number of reasons such as post-natal depression, multiple births, disabilities, isolation, family breakdown or becoming parents at a young age. As Home-Start volunteer you will provide a confidential service and bring all the knowledge you've gained as a parent to the family you support; helping to build the confidence of parents and encouraging them to manage independently. In return, you will feel valued and gain new skills and experience. You don't need any qualifications but parenting experience is essential. Volunteers and families are carefully matched and you will be given comprehensive training and ongoing support from your local Home-Start. Home-Start schemes in Craigavon, Banbridge and Blossom are currently looking for volunteers.
